Hello, I am arriving on 17/03 to Geneva, and trying to take a train from Geneva to zermatt on 18/03. Once I arrive in zermatt I have to take the Gornergrat Bahn to my hotel. I will have to do the same route back on 19/03. From what I’ve concluded the best option is to use the Swiss travel pass to get my train from Geneva to zermatt for free, then it gives me a 1/2 price discount on the Gornergrat Bahn. I just want to make sure this is the best option for pricing, and if the Swiss travel pass covered the train to zermatt. Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance!

    Hi Grau0901,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps!

To answer your question if the Swiss Travel Pass would cover your train fare from Geneva to Zermatt, yes it does. And yes, with the Swiss Travel Pass you can benefit from a 50% discount on the mountain railway train to Gornergrat. More information about the Swiss Travel Pass here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass

I would recommend getting the Swiss Travel Pass but you might also want to consider buying the Saver Day Pass as you are only travelling for a few days. The Saver Day Pass is priced cheaper when you buy it early, but it won’t give you any discount on mountain railways or cable cars. For more information about the Saver Day Pass, please visit this link: http://www.myswissalps.com/saverdaypass

To be sure which option works best for you, I suggest you download the handy spreadsheet and do your numbers as explained here: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass

Also one more question, if I buy two saver day passes that will cover my train ride to and from Geneva to Zermatt and I would just pay full fare on the gornergrat correct?

I thought a Saver Day Pass gave 25% discount on the Gornergrat?

    Hello 1960man,

According to the newest information on the Saver Day Pass it DOESN’T provide any discount for the Gornergrat. See below:

    Best,
    Steph
