Can you please advise whether and how frequent trains is departing from Geneva Airport to Visp on Saturday, 24th December 2016. How do I go about booking tickets and reserve seats for this journey?

Our flight back to the UK is at 10:oo EU time – can you please advise the timetable from Visp to Geneva airport on Friday, 30th December 2016

The timetable will be able to show schedules for late December in a few days, probably from tomorrow.

If this is your only trip in Switzerland you can buy a ticket at the airport. If not, a train pass might be useful. Seat reservations are not necessary.

As Arno noted, the timetable updates in the next few days for the end of 2016 and most of 2017.

However, since it is rare to have significant changes on the schedules of the mainline trains, I looked at today’s or tomorrow’s date, and found that the trains take between 2 1/2 and 2 3/4 hours for your return, when the timing is critical.

Some run with no change of trains; other change at Sion. I see that one train has a 3 minute connection at Sion, but checking this map-

shows me that the arriving and departing trains are on the two sides of the same platform, so that will be no problem.

None of the train listings show heavy passenger loads, so you’ll have no trouble getting seats together. Reservations won’t be needed; never are on trains within Switzerland

How much before your departure time would you like to be at the airport?

Looks like you might have to make an early start. 😉

Yes, check the timetable before travelling.

You can take train IR 1806 on 30-12-2016

Visp depart on 05.35, arrival 08.09 at Geneve Airport (no change, no reservation)
