Tirano to Lugano in January

Hello. We are riding the Bernina Express train southbound to Tirano on The 5th of January, staying overnight and then going to see friends in Lugano. It appears that the Bernina Express bus does not run in January, correct? Is there a public bus or on other way to Lugano? Or is the train through Milan the only option?

The bus service is indeed not available in winter. You can find other options, via Milan, in the timetable, although it seems like the Italian services are not included yet. Alternatively you can check www.trenitalia.com.
