    Hi All!

We , an ageing couple from India, planned to visit Switzerland for 5 days, from 14th to 19th October ’16.

We are confused as to whether we should buy Swiss Travel Pass or a Half Fare card.

Our tour plan is like this:

14th: We will reach Geneva from Kolkata,India, at around 2pm. & will go to Lausanne to visit one of our friend staying there.

15th: Take train to Grindelwald, & stay.

16th: Visit Jungfrau & back to Grindel wald.

    17th: Train to Zermatt, stay.

18th: Take Glacier Express from Zermatt to Chur.

19th: Board Bernina Express from Chur to Tirano, Italy.

This is our itinerary. Any one kind enough to advice us what to choose?

    1. Actually from the Train Route Map, I could not ascertain the routes which are not covered by Swiss Travel Pass.

    2. I came to know that a pass holder gets 25% discount in Jungfrau region, which means I have to pay 75% of this ticket over & above my Swiss Travel Pass & all other train rides are FREE? Off course I know that I will have to pay the reservation charges for the panoramic trains.

    Thanks for posting here swatiashim!

    1. Almost all routes are covered, either free (trains, buses, boats and some mountain transport) or discounted (mountain transport). If it’s not on the map it’s not covered, but that’s quite exceptional. This applies to some of the cableways around St. Moritz, for example. Please find all details on the map page.

    2. Large parts of the Jungfrau region are free with a Swiss Travel Pass: the trains from Interlaken to Grindelwald, Mürren, Wengen and Schynige Platte. Only trains towards Jungfraujoch from Wengen/Grindelwald are just 25% discounted. Cableways are 50% off. Be sure to zoom in on the map to see all such details.
