    Hi,

For above route train. I not very sure about the simbol, such as GR,GZ,RE. For 2 of us, do we need to pay for reservation seat ? I understand only PE (panorama express) route, compulsory for reservation seat.

    Hi Angel7105,

If you take the panoramic trains, you must make a seat reservation. Otherwise no seat reservation is required.

As for the symbols, in case you’re curious …
GR – Groups – reservation compulsory
GZ – Groups – supplementary charge
    RE – Regional Express train
    IR – Inter Regional train
    IC – Inter City train
FZ – Family zone without play area
FA – Family zone with play area
    TT – Tilting Train
    BZ – Business Zone
    RZ – Quiet Zone

Don’t worry too much about the symbols. Just enjoy the journey 🙂

    Hi Angel,

You don’t need reservations to get from Montreux to Gruyéres. I went that route 2 days ago. Golden Pass Panorama to Montbovon. It was fullish so make sure you board the train early. From Montbovon a suburban train gets you to Gruyéres. Try to get there by 11:00 if you want to see the best of the cheese-making process.

We returned via Chatel-St-Denis. The bus to Vevey was free with Montreux Riviera Card despite C-S-D being just outside the zone.

Also on the way there you only need a ticket from Les Avants to Gruyéres as the ride to Les Avants is covered by the MRC.

If you are using a Swiss Travel Pass then the MRC is not relevant.
