We will be spending 2 weeks in Switzerland and then will travel to the Cotes du Rhone area. We are looking for the best way to travel from Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland to Vaison la Romaine, France. Is it better to drive, take a train, or fly? If we should fly, what is the closest airport to fly out of and into?

    Hi Darin,

As far as I know there is no train station in Vaison-la-Romaine, so I assume you plan to rent a car while you’re there? If so, you can take a high speed train from Geneva to Avignon (3 hours) and rent the car there. Optionally you can take the Golden Pass line from Lauterbrunnen via Spiez, Zweisimmen and Montreux to Geneva. It takes more time but offers better scenery.

If you have a rail pass for Switzerland you would only need a point to point ticket from Geneva to Avignon.
