    Hello,

We will be traveling from Brig to Locarno via Andermatt to avoid Italy because of COVID restrictions. However we will have our small dog with us in a backpack and I saw this note on your site:

“Dogs may not enter dining cars. They are not allowed in the Glacier Express, because food can be served throughout the entire train.”

On a map it looks like the Glacier Express is on our route from Brig to Andermatt so how do we be sure that we are not on the Glacial Express train when we board with our dog?

    Thanks!

    Hi Xpresso,

The Glacier Express carriages are well signposted and usually have big windows – you won’t miss them. So, if you have a ticket for a regular train, choose a normal carriage. The SBB timetable usually have details about your connection, including which carriage is valid with your ticket.

    Regards,

    Anna

Oh okay, so a train could be partially for the Glacier Express but also has regular cabins as well?

    Hi Xpresso,

I’ve seen that on some occasions but not recently. You need to avoid the Glacier Express in this case. It’s easy to recognize as Anna said. The displays in Brig will also clearly show that the train is a Glacier Express. The Glacier Express is marked “PE” (Panorama Express) in the timetable and also marked as a train with compulsory reservations. So, simply take one of the other trains. There are many of them, and only a few Glacier Expresses.
