We are looking for accomodations in interlaken for July 17th to July 20th. The rates are sky high. $200 per night for a double. Why is it so hard to find a room for a family of 4 in Europe. Europeans don't travel with kids? If anyone know of any hotels of apartments for 2 adults and 2 children for under $150 during this period please let us know where. thank you in advance. Ideally we would all like to stay in one room as my kids are small in age.

Forgot to ask, is there something going on in Interlaken during this time period that so many hotels are booked? I can change my dates few days early or later if the rates are cheaper.

Hi paturelesh. July is high season and Interlaken is a popular tourist town, so you may find that many hotels are already booked during that period and that rates are high. However, hotels often place only part of their rooms at the disposal of booking sites, so if a booking site mentions that no rooms are available, it may be worth the effort to contact the hotel directly and ask if they have rooms left for your travel dates. We listed relatively affordable hotels in Interlaken at our hotel page, so you could check if they have rooms either through the booking system or by contacting the hotels. Another idea would be not to stay in Interlaken, but in a nearby town that's located less centrally, but still offers good public transport connections. Please review our tips for cheap accommodation and choosing the right resort for more information.

If you don't manage to find the right accommodation, you could contact Interlaken Tourism and see if they can help you out.
