Hello Julie,
Based on your personal itinerary you should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. The spreadsheet also includes links to the “Where it’s valid” page for all available passes. Be sure to check those pages for each pass you are considering. Study the map AND read all the text on those pages to fully understand what is covered by the respective pass.
The coverage of the Eurail Global Pass does not compare with the Swiss Travel Pass once you get off the mainline rail network.

Thank you. I understand
Most of my family only needs transport from point a to point b for 5 days flex incl 1 day of glacier express. There are no swiss passes for 5 days, only 4 and 8 which is a big price difference. Eurail pass is 364– 1st class for 5 days, so even if no discount on some sites in Lucerne , Bern and Zurich – it seems it makes sense to do that? if we can take trains zurich-zermatt, glacier express zermatt- st moritz, st moritz – zurich, and day trips each Lucerne and Bern? I understand we won’t get discounts on any trains /sites in Zermatt but I don’t think (I could be wrong) if they are mostly skiing – it will justify getting 8 day 1st calss pass on swiss rail for 740
for myself, since I will only ski 1 day, I did get 8 day flex swiss rail pass on your link and family card for my 10 yo. since will do some sightseeing in Zermatt and can use it for tickets and discounts?
Thank you in advance. I found it very confusing

Hello Julie,
Yes it can be confusing. That’s why doing the math using the spreadsheet I linked to can simplify things.
I most cities you hotel should give you a travel card which will cover local city transport.
I’m not sure if you still have questions but you do realise you will need to buy seat reservations for the Glacier Express. There are no passes that cover than cost.

Hi Julie,
If you need a 5 days pass and you like the Swiss Travel Pass Flex, you could buy a 4 days Swiss Travel Pass and add a Saver Day Pass to it. (Be aware that they validity is different, check them at http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass/validity and http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpassflex/vali dity).
You can read about traveling in Zermatt at http://www.myswissalps.com/ze rmatt/travel.
