Bad news I’m afraid zittelm,
From 19 March to 1 June reservations are not possible on the Golden Pass Zweisimmen to Montreux due to construction on the line between Château-d’Oex and Montbovon. For that section passengers will be re-routed by bus.
Seating on the train will be first come first served.

It appears that only the evening train has the VIP coach. The earlier ones that run in the morning and afternoon do not appear to have this or atleast the reservation charts do not appear to show it.

Are you looking at somewhere between the 16th and 24th of May when zittelm is travelling?
If you have found somewhere to make reservations on those dates then please share the link.

No, not during that period. In early June.

Hi Gooch,
As of June 4 you can make reservations again. The train is denoted as MOB Panoramic in the timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable). There is a train leaving from Zweisimmen at 12:25 for example. You can make reservations here: http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/packages.

The carriages with VIP seats are on the Golden Pass departures from Zweisimmen at 12:25 and 18:25 and from Montreux at 9:44 and 15:44.
The seating diagram shows the VIP seats on each of these trains on 4 June.
Despite the fact that construction works are due to finish on 1 June, reservations are apparently not available before 4 June.

Thank you all for input. At least I know why I could not find how to book the seats.
Is it worth taking the longer Golden train route with this interruption of going more direct from Lucerns to Montreux. We are staying 3 night in Montreux no choice in not staying 3 nights. What is recomended for day trip from there. Not really interested in going to Geneva but are flexible otherwise. Going to Murren for two nights after Montreux

It’s absolutely worth taking the Golden Pass line!
Visit our page on things to do in Montreux: http://www.myswissalps.com/mo ntreux/activities. If you like hiking / walking, make sure you visit the Lavaux vineyards.
