Hello. We have added 5 days to our Europe visit for Switzerland travel. First week in May. Seeking recommendations as to how to spend our time, general itinerary.

Focused on hiking (moderate to difficult), small towns not to miss. Outdoor experiences and natural sightseeing. Less city time.

Flying in and out of Zurich.

Recommendations for can't miss, once-in-a-lifer times hikes? Outdoor experiences? Traveling between small scenic towns or regions?

thank you!

Hi Okeefe-

Welcome to my Swiss Alps.

This may prove to be long and interesting thread.

Early May is not so good at high altitude, above 2000 meters. Still late winter..

Do you know this website:

www.schweizmobil.ch/en /schweizmobil.html

And,

www.alpenwild.com/hike -alps/trail-signs-swiss-alps

and,

www.myswissalps.com/be sttimetovisit

Also,

map.geo.admin.ch/?topic=swisstopo&lang=e n&bgLayer=ch.swisstopo .swissimage&layers=ch. swisstopo.zeitreihen,c h.bfs.gebaeude_wohnung s_register,ch.bafu.wrz -wildruhezonen_portal,c h.swisstopo.swisstlm3d -wanderwege&layers_visi bility=false,false,fal se,true&layers_timesta mp=18641231,,,&X=15706 2.45&Y=538906.98&zoom= 4

The latter set to show hiking trails.

One O like...not terribly difficult and likely to be pleasant in May:

How about the Swiss path?

www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/the-swiss-path-and-southern-lake-lucerne

and,

www.weg-der-schweiz.ch/en/

Can you be more precise about "hiking (moderate to difficult) "?
