Way to Gornergrat and tickets

Hi,

We are travelling to Zermatt on this coming Oct and would need some information as below.

1) Do we able to take the train up to gornergrat and back with cable car?

2) If we bought our train ticket Zermatt to Gornergrat, can we go down at certain stop? like riffelberg/rotenboden.

3) Is there any scenario that the train will not be operated on the day? which might due to weather or other reasons? If yes, what if we bought the ticket from online and money will be returned back?

1) There is only a train.

2) Yes, no problem.

3) That's very rare, but not impossible in case of a severe storm or landslide. As far as I know you should always be able to get your money back in such a case. Either directly through the ticket desks or through the company you purchased from.
