We will be staying in Zurich and want to travel to Lake Lugano the most scenic way – is there a way we can incorporate the Bernina Express in our journey?

Hi gmwooo, welcome to MySwissAlps,

You can certainly include the Bernina Express. You would take a train to Chur, the Bernina Express to Tirano, and finally the Bernina Express bus to Lugano (not available in winter).

With a Swiss Travel Pass, all of that is free, except for the seat reservations.

Could I assume that if we decided to go to Bellagio in Lake Como rather than Lake Lugano we would still be able to catch a Bus from Tirano?

Hi gmwooo.

You would take the same bus to Lugano, then take a train to Italy from there. The details can be found in the timetable. The Swiss Travel Pass covers free traveling until the border at Chiasso.
