I am planning a short stay in Wengen coming up April 7 thru 9. I am looking for things to do in the area. I have been to Jungfrau previously. I have not been to Schilthorn. I am looking for maybe some hikes with good scenery or views which I think I have read that most trails are not open yet and with the snow melting could be muddy. I guess ideally I would like to hike/walk from point A to point B where I can take the train to or from with maybe a 2 to 4 hour hike/walk.

    Hi Spaulus69,

I don’t know that area for hiking in early April but get some inspiration by following these links:

I would stick to altitudes of below or around 1000 meters to avoid the possibility of hikes/paths being closed or too snowy/sloshy. To find out in detail which trails are available I recommend you contact the local Tourist Office upon arrival.

Ski season will just be ending around then so you’re hikes will be limited I would say…You might luck out if the snow pack was good and the groomed winter trails are still open higher up. You’ll have to be flexible and check-in at the tourist office when you are there I think.

Thought that they stopped grooming on march 31?
