We are 11 US hikers coming the first week in September. What rail pass should we buy?

    1. Part of the group will be traveling from Zurich to Grindelwald and then return via Lauterbrunnen.

    2. The other group will do the same as #1 but add the train from Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen via Kleine Schendegg with a possible trip to the Jungfraujoch.

    Please advise. Thank you.

    Hi Ken,

The second group has already been discussed in your other thread here. As for the first group: they can take a Swiss Transfer Ticket (not the Combi) if they plan not to use any cable cars/cogwheel trains or just one or so. If they plan to use more the same advice applies: Swiss Transfer Ticket Combi. Please see this page for where to buy. You can best buy no later than a week before your departure, as the Swiss Transfer Ticket Combi can’t be printed at home. The Swiss Transfer Ticket can, but it still takes 1 to 3 business days to receive it through e-mail.

Thank you for your response. Very helpful.

    1. Can I buy a Swiss Transfer Ticket Combi at the Zurich Airport?

    2. Can I buy a Swiss Transfer Ticket at the Zurich airpprt?

    Hi Ken,

No, these tickets need to be purchased online. Please find all options here: myswissalps.com/ swisstransferticket/ price. If you want the Combi, you can select that product in the “Rail product” list and click “Show results”.
