My husband and I are planning a trip next year in March to Zurich and other European countries for 7 days. We land in Zurich in the morning and would like to go straight to Murren where our chalet is for the next 2 nights. Then would go back to Zurich airport to fly to Prague spend 2 nights, then train ride to Vienna spend 3 nights. From Vienna back to Zurich for another 2 nights before we fly back. What would be the best train pass to buy?

    Thanks!

    Joma

Hi Joma and welcome to MySwissAlps!

For a short trip in Switzerland (and the other countries) you’ll probably find a Eurail Pass is best overall: http://www.myswissalps.com/eu railselectpass

You may also find just point to point tickets are best to/from Vienna as they can be fairly cheap when bought far enough in advance: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr avel/toswitzerland/tra in/tickets

The Eurail Pass is often best with several trips in each country I’ve found (but not necessarily).

That being said, in order to know which rail pass (if any) will save you money over buying point to point tickets, you’ll need to first decide on your day to day itinerary and then find ticket prices and compare to rail pass discounts (some trips are fully covered and others partially covered). Read though our instructional page on how to find the best rail pass for your itinerary here: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass (we even have a spreadsheet there to help with the math).
