They have never hiked these routes and want to know where wild camping is allowed and any regulations they should consider.

Key takeaways:

  • It's allowed in Bachalpsee but prohibited at Oeschinensee; inquire locally about other spots.
  • Always verify current conditions and regulations before camping, especially in protected areas or during special circumstances like pandemics.

    Hi Dzmitryestim,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps!

There is no definitive regulations about wild camping in Switzerland but in general it is allowed above the tree lines with exceptions in national parks, nature reserves and protected areas. The regulations depend on the respective cantons and local authorities.

Based on previous experience, camping is allowed in Bachalpsee but prohibited in Oeschinensee. I am not too sure about the other places you mentioned. I would recommend to play it safe and inquire in advance or on-site with the respective local authority or the local police station if you plan on a pitching a tent outside of the official campsites or resting areas. Some places may have introduced extra measures in the face of a pandemic so it is best to ask first.
