Ive two options ,which would be better

Zermatt down to Goschenen to Bellinzona to Lugano

or cut from Brig by bus over to Isella get back on trains to Lugano

if i do the latter i will miss the Gotthard section Goschenen to Guibiasco

with no way of doing that section as we are doing Tirano to Pontresina then down to Reichenau to Andermatt then North , will it save time or miss a unmissable section.

    Thanks from Chris

    Hi Chris,

Both routes are wonderful, but you should know that route 1 only includes half of the Gotthard route. You won’t see the northern section with the famous spiral loops near Wassen.

If you pick option 2 you can change to the Centovalli railway in Domodossola, and continue to Lugano via Locarno and Bellinzona.

I just saw your itinerary here and with that in mind I’d recommend option 2.

Can the Northern Section be done when we leave Pontresina heading to Brunnen!!

down the Glacier to Reichenau over to Andermatt then North on that Section.

Yes, that can be done, so I recommend option 2 for the trip discussed here.
