    Hello,

As I Am approaching closer to my May trip to Switzerland I wanted to finalize my last hotel shortlisting for Zurich. I have 7:45 AM flight and will reach Zurich a day before my flight from Montreux. Can you please suggest me hotel so that we can roam downtown day before and can reach airport via free shuttle or on foot easily next morning

    Regards

    Harjeet

    Hi Harjeet,

This was already asked and answered last July: http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/zurich-accomodation. Please see the pages we suggested there and let us know if none of the hotels qualify. Thanks!

    Hi Arno,

    Thanks for reply.

I am facing issue in finding hotel who is providing free shuttle service round the clock because I need early morning transfer to hotel. Some of the hotels are providing shuttle service from 5 AM till 11:30 PM. I saw Radisson Blue has direct access to Terminal but it is out of my budget .I don’t want to take any risk so was looking for suggestion

    Regards

    Harjeet

    Hi Harjeet,

There won’t be any hotels that operate 24hour shuttles to Zurich airport – the airport isn’t open 24 hours.

For a 07:45 flight there is no need to be there before 05:00 in any case. 05:30-06:00 would be plenty of time to arrive.

    Hi Harjeet,

I had stayed at Ibis Budget Zurich Airport for 3 nights in Oct 2018 (to visit Rhinefalls, Konstanz, and to catch an early flight too. It’s a very short distance by either of two trams to Zurich Airport.

    Hi Harjeet –

Although the transport is not free, there are frequent trains to the airport in the early morning. See attached screen grab showing options on a random day in May. The tram #10 is quite cheap but takes 45 minutes, so the trains get you there a lot faster and have more capcity for your baggage. The airport train station is very close to the main terminal, with easy access with baggage.

    No, it is not free.

But, if you choose to stay downtown, you can choose from a wider range of relatively inexpensive hotels in downtown Zürich, including some very near to the station. And, if you stay at the airport, you have to get there anyway.

And, you can enjoy the downtown area with a wide range of restaurants on the night before you travel. My friends have had good luck at the Hotel Montana Zürich for one example.

Yes, I thought the Hotel Montana was a great budget hotel, minutes from the train station.

    Hi Harjeet,

I have also planned a trip in May with return flight from Zurich at 7.45 AM. After a lot of searching I booked at Novotel Zurich Airport Messe. I got a good black friday deal.

Yes the airport shuttle starts at 5 am and i think it should be sufficient.

pl ensure to book your shuttle in advance as i have read that it gets full.

Alternatively, there is tram stop (Opfikon) next to hotel and it take 9 mins (tram no 10 or 12) to reach airport, if you dont want to depend on the shuttle. You can check timetables at http://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/home .html

Depending on which airline you are flying out there is an option on night check in as well. One can check night before so as to travel light early morning.

I have never used this but worth exploring.

    regards
