We will be in Zürich for one night. We arrive from Canada at 7:00 am so want to do something to keep us awake and active. The plan is to take the train from the airport into Zurich, leave our luggage in a locker at the main train station and then take the S4 train to Adliswil, cable car to Felsenegg, walk to Uetliberg and then train back to Zurich train station to retrieve our luggage and then check into our hotel. Later in the day we may want to do a short boat ride on the lake. Don’t really plan to visit any Museums. My question is, should we get the Zurich card to cover all this or is there a rail pass that would cover this and be less expensive than the Zurich card?

    Hi Snowcat,

The Zurich Card (CHF27) should work for you. See coverage at http://www.zvv.ch/zvv-assets/abos-und-tickets/zonen/geltungs bereich_zuerichcard_20 14.pdf. Cheapest Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass and bit.ly/2rkekat) is CHF52 unless you happen to have a Swiss Half-fare Card in which case it’s CHF29.

Most hotels will let you drop off your bags before checking in (or at least before they have a room ready for you). That may save you some locker fees.

    Hi Snowcat,

How nice you’re coming to my hometown… proud Adliswil girl here! 🙂

For the trip you plan there is also a so-called Albis Tageskarte which you can buy at the train station or even ticketing machines in Zurich.
    http://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/abos -und-tickets/tickets/weiter e-tickets/albis-tageskarte.html

Enjoy the “Felsenegg” cable car, the only one in the canton (state) of Zurich!

    Best,
    Steph

    Hi Steph,

Does that “Card” cover out to Kloten?

    Hi Rockoyster,

Nope, unfortunately not! You’d need a single ticket Airport Zurich before being able to use the Albis-Tageskarte.

    Cheers,
    Steph

    Hi Rockoyster,

It costs CHF 17.60 regular price and 8.80 with a Swiss Half Fare Card.

The Albis-Tageskarte covers 6 zones and is sold at the price of a 4-zone ticket.

Do you need the link to the zone pricing of the ZVV (Zurich transport company?)

    Steph
