Hello: Planning to travel from Zurich to Murren at the end of June this year. Wondering if tickets should/could be purchased in advance of travel and if i should be worrying about a reservation at this popular travel time. Also, 8 days later will need to get to Chur from Grindelwald after hiking. Again, should I be attempting advance reservations and ticket purchase? Thanks for input. Janice

Hi Janice,

Reservations are not required apart from a few special trains: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/reservations.

As for tickets: you don’t need them if you opt for the Swiss Travel Pass. If you do need tickets, buying in advance can sometimes save you money:
