Would like some help on planning which trains to take and what would be the best tickets to buy for:

Zurich airport (best scenic route ) to Zermatt . We will be based in Zermatt for 4 nights

    Zermatt to Milan Italy

    Thanks, for your help.

Hello Diane an Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Use the SBB Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to plan your travel. If you are not familiar with using the timetable it will pay to first read the instructions on that page.

Go Zurich to Zermatt via Lucerne, Meiringen and Kandersteg for most scenic route.

Fastest route to Milan is via Domodossola direct. If you want more scenery go Domodossola – Locarno – Lugano – Milan. There are even more scenic but much longer and circuitous routes.

Wow, thank you! I will look at that route it was suggested to go Zurich to Chur change trains to Glazer Express to Zermatt. Not sure how long both routes areand if they can be done in one day. Thank you for your help.

That’s another alternative – there are many, depending how much time you want to spend travelling. Keep in mind the Glacier Express (http://www.myswissalps.com/gl acierexpress) requires reservations.

The SBB Timetable will give you the timings.
