Switzerland uses a J-type plug/socket. You will need a new adapter. See discussion at http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/power-adapter.

As usual, Rockoyster has qucikly given you the answer.
I’ll add that – since the shapes are similar- European plugs will often work in Switzerland…Of course, at the most critical moment, they won’t. ;-(

Thanks Ajittipnis –
It is nice to have data.
The hexagonal plug surround is the key.
Some European plugs, ( with a rounded, not hexagonal, surround) will fit in the hexagonal openings. The pins align OK. Sometimes, except at critical moments. ;-(
It is best to get the correct Swiss design.
They can be purchased at many Kiosk or Aperto convenience stores, and the electronics store at Zürich main station ( Interdiscount) would surely have them. There is an Interdiscount at Zürich airport, as well.
They also come in a two- pin variation, as well as the 3- pin with ground(earth) version. Many older buildings in Switzerland have receptacles with 2 holes, not 3. Some have a multiple hole outlet that will accept both.
