First-Grosse Scheidegg: the facts

About the trail

The route leads through gently rolling meadows to the pass between Grindelwald and Meiringen: the Grosse Scheidegg. It offers an almost continuous view of the Jungfrau massif, while overlooking the Grindelwald valley on the right.

The Rosenlaui valley between Grosse Scheidegg and Meiringen can be explored on foot too.

How to get to Grindelwald-First

Travel up to Grindelwald-First as explained here.

How to get back from Grosse Scheidegg

Take a bus back to Grindelwald. Or take a bus to Meiringen through the impressive Rosenlaui Valley. If your stamina allows, you can even continue to Meiringen on foot. A bus trip is possible too. Once you’re in Meiringen, get back by train via Brienz and Interlaken for a scenic round trip.
