Discounted train tickets

Discounted point to point train tickets can be purchased online, or through the staffed desk or ticketing machines at rail stations in Switzerland. You need a Swiss Half Fare Card to travel with discounted tickets. If you travel a lot, another rail pass might be a better choice, so be sure to compare. You don't need a ticket at all if you have a rail pass for free traveling.

Domestic tickets for Switzerland can be purchased in advance. You can do so to save time, but it's not required. Seat reservations are mostly not required. If you do need them, you’d best purchase them early.

A Supersaver ticket allows you to save even more money, but it comes with restrictions.
