    Hello,

My husband and i will be traveling to Switzerland for 8 days in this coming September.

We are planning to stay in Lucerne, Interlaken, Berne and Zurich (last night). we really want to explore the mountain and small town n between those beautiful area (Titlis, Jungfraujoch, Latterbrunnen, Grindelwald). Which train pass that you recommend for us to get (that is affordable ). Do they have special discounted pass for couple, just like in south Germany they have bayern pass for group of 2-5 people? And one more question (sorry if its not related to the topic), what is the weather like in Switzerland in the beginning of September? Thank you for your kind response.

Hi angiedjoe17 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The simplest rail pass to choose is the Swiss Travel Pass. It covers almost all of Switzerland (if it doesn’t fully cover the route it will offer a discount of some sort). Check out a map of validity for the pass here.

Another option is to buy a regional rail pass, such as the Regional Pass-Bernese Oberland.
It offers good coverage around Jungfraujoch and some trips around Luzern (but not around Zurich). Check out a map of validity for the pass here.

Another option is the Swiss Half Fare Card, which once bought gets you 50% off all trips you take.

In the end, to know the most affordable pass for you, is to plan out all your trips and do the math. We have an Excel sheet on our page: “how to choose the best rail pass” to help you with this.
