Bernina Express Chur to Tirano in May

    we end a river cruise in Basel 13/5/17 and then wish to travel by train from Basel to Chur 13/5/17 stay in chur over night and catch the Bernina Express 14/5/17 from Chur to Tirano arriving in Tirano 1300 approx.

    We then wish to catch a train from Tirano to Lake Como San giovanni that day arriving in Como 1800 approx.

    are we best to do point to point tickets? should we book tickets before we leave Australia? is any pass best suited for this trip? we are 3 older australian travellers.

    Hi ianfr!

    I think your question about passes versus regular tickets has been discussed in this previous topic. For just this trip you’re better off getting regular tickets. You can arrange for them beforehand or buy them at the spot at the railway stations of Basel and Chur. You also need seat reservations for the Bernina Express. These can best be made online before you leave. You can follow the last link at the bottom of the page I linked to.
