    Hi.

We are traveling to Lausanne to visit our daughter who is studying at the EPFL.

We are arriving on April 18 and leaving on April 27. We rented an apartment in Lausanne near Place Chauderon. We check out on April 26 so that we can spend our last day in Geneva since we leave from there the next day. Furthermore, we know we will be spending Easter Day in Bern with friends my daughter has met.

Basically, we would like to make the most of our trip by visiting as much as we can keeping in mind to return to the apt rental every night. The places we have in mind are Lucerne,Montreux, and Zurich.

We were also advised to try the Bernina Express and the Glacier Express as well as the Lavaux vineyard tours and of course visit a chocolate and cheese factory. Other suggestions were the Golden Pass Panoramic scenic train , the Rochers de Naye and the Alps.

Obviously, we have no idea if this itinerary is at all realistic as far as time frame. We also have no idea what is the best possible scenario as far as transport is concerned. Are we better off with a Swiss pass, a flexi pass or other?

Basically, we would appreciate your help to make our trip as filled as possible with beautiful memories we will cherish for a very long time.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and interest in our trip!

    Maria

Hi Maria, thanks for posting here,

Most of your suggestions can be done from Lausanne. The Golden Pass line starts in Montreux and ends in Lucerne, so you can combine the train with a visit to Lucerne. It’s just the Glacier Express that is not realisticly possible in one day from Lausanne. See the Glacier Express page for details. Also see this page for how to plan your holidays, and here for more sightseeing suggestions.

On 8-day Swiss Pass is a good fit as you have quit a lot of traveling on your list. See here for how to pick the best pass. On the last day you can book an hotel in Gevena, either in town (suggestions here) or near the airport (suggestions here).

    Hi Maria,

Yes, you can purchase locally during opening hours, or online. Please see the Swiss Pass price page which lists all the options.
