I will be flying to Zurich, arriving Feb. 9 & plan to stay until Feb 11 at that time traveling to St Anton, Austria, departing & returning to Zurich on Feb. 14 afternoon. My departure from Zurich on the morning of Feb. 16. Questions:

    1. What type of train tickets should I purchase? Does a Swiss Pass make sense? I assume it will not be accepted for travel in Austria.

    2. I understand the Swiss Pass can be used for other activities while exploring Zurich, based on the options available what makes sense now that you know my I Tinari?

Hello Craig and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Well, we know when you are arriving and leaving but not what you’d like to do while you are here.

Any form of Swiss Travel Pass will only get you as far as the Austrian border.

You might want to give a bit more thought about what you’d like to see and do in Switzerland.

Yes, that’s right, e.g. buses, trains, trams, funiculars, boat trips and entry to museums. However, using the Swiss Travel Pass within Zürich would be a waste of money unless you are also doing longer day trips from Zürich on the same day.

Most of the sights in Zürich are within walking distance of each other, but if you plan to take at least 2 bus, tram or train trips in one day, a 24-hour pass might be worth it. A 24-hour pass costs the same as 2 single tickets.

Another option to consider would be a ZürichCARD

    Hi Craig,

If you haven’t read through our Zurich page have a look here. It has an overview of the town, what you can do and how to travel around with links to the Zurich Card etc.

Let us know if you have more questions!
