We have a 5 night stay in Murren planned for late August / early September. Is it possible, or practical to visit The Matterhorn in a single day. If so, can you please advise most expedient rail route.

    Thank you Kelvin

    Hi Kelvin,

The train (fastest way) gets you there in 3h16. So if you don’t mind spending seven hours on the train, you could do it. There’s still plenty of daylight so for you to use the day at its fullest potential.

You can use the Swiss timetable to plan your trip.

We will be in Murren for three days in late May and are thinking of using one day to go to Zermatt. How is May weather in Zermatt? Would the day be long in late May (25 or 26).What kind of train would we take from Murren to Zermatt? Thank you.

    Hi Pearl,

You might want to read about Swiss weather here. In May you could get quite nice weather in Zermatt, but up in the mountains it can still get quite cold.

    Sunrise/sunset times are about 05:45 to 21:00 (can be found here: https://www.timeanddat e.com/sun/switzerland/ zermatt?month=5&year=2018)
