Recommended rail pass for 6 days Grindelwald
-
My wife and I will be arriving in Zurich on Sept 11 at 6:30 am. We plan to stay in Grindelwald for 5 nights. Here’s our itinerary:
Sept 11– train from Zurich to Grindelwald; check in or leave bags at hotel; if enough time, take one of the gondolas to get up as high as possible to enjoy the views and relax
Sept 12– bus to Mannlichen; hike to Kleine Scheidegg to Eigergletscher to Alpigen; train from Alpigen back to Grindelwald
Sept 13– gondola to First; hike from First to Schynige Platte; cogwheel train from SP to Wilderswil then train to Grindelwald
Sept 14– train to Thun; enjoy this beautiful town’s castle and church ; try to include Spietz; train back to Grindelwald
Sept 15– gondola to First; hike to Bachsee to Faulhorn to Bussalp; train back to Grindelwald
Sept 16– travel to Paris ; use Swiss rail for part of the fare (Basel)
Should one of the hiking days get rained out, we have an alternate day planned to go to Lake Brienze
Based upon this itinerary, what rail pass do you recommend? Also, which gondola will give us the most scenic ride for our afternoon trip on Sept 11? Thank you in advance
