Hi Jatinsmehta,
Yes, that’s doable. But note that traveling via Zweilütschinen takes longer than the direct train from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald.
Hike details are here:

Thanks Arno,
That’s 45 mins extra or so but if I’m correct it’s also a saving of CHF 23. Hope I’m right

Hi jatinsmehta,
That depends on which pass or ticket you use while traveling. With the Regional-Pass Bernese Oberland, for example, both routes are covered (myswissalps.com/region alpassberneseoberland/ validity). With regular tickets and most other rail passes, there’s a price difference indeed.

Hi Annika,
I am having 8 day Swiss travel pass

In that case your suggested route saves you CHF 5.75. You’ll have to pay from Kleine Scheidegg anyway (minus a 25% discount), but the route to Grindelwald is slightly more expensive than to Wengen.

Dear Arno :
I didn’t understand your calculation of CHF 5.75 :
1)Wengen to Mannlichen – Gondola
2) Mannlichen to KS – hike
3) KS to Grindelwald – CHF 30 ( direct), I have swiss pass so 25% off, which make CHF 23, however
KS to Grindelwald via Lauterbrunnen is free – am i correct?

Hi jatinsmehta,
No, your assumption under 3) is not correct. As Arno explained, the routes between Grindelwald, Kleine Scheidegg and Wengen are 25% off with a Swiss Travel Pass. So if you travel via Zweilütschinen, you’ll have to get down via Wengen-Lauterbrunnen first. The segment Kleine Scheidegg-Lauterbrunnen still has to be paid for with a 25% reduction. It’s explained by a map and a list of routes at myswissalps.com/swisst ravelpass/validity.

Hi Annika,
Thanks for correcting me..
KS to wengen has to be paid right (25% reduction), because Wengen to Lauterbrunnen is covered by Swiss pass

Indeed! So not much of a difference price wise. Direct to Grindelwald is quicker, more scenic, and easier (no train changes).

HI ALL
Insead of going to First you might consider continuing up to Eigergletscher then the Eiger trail or back down and continue fro KS to Wengernalp then back to Wengen. Alternatively you could hike from KS to Alpiglen

Thanks Arno, you saved my 45 mins of travel time, appreciate your advice…
Thanks Mark, I would prefer Bachalpsee as I want to visit First too.
