My sister and I have an 8 day Swiss Pass for our October stay. How do we reserve seats for the Golden Pass with our Swiss Pass? I can’t seem to figure this out. Thanks!

Hi Mbeaulieu726,
For information about seat reservations on the Golden Pass, please refer to this page: http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass/tickets
Let us know if you have further questions.

Anna
AnnikaModerator7126 posts9 August 2021 at 9:16:56 #936104Hi Mbeaulieu72! In addition to Anna’s information: with your Swiss Travel Pass, the Golden Pass train ride is for free (http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/validity). Seat reservations are not obligatory, but if you want to can arrange for them for the leg Zweisimmen-Montreux. Retailers are listed at the page Anna mentioned. This is the direct link: https://www.happyrail.com/en/pass/europe/switzerland/passholder-fares-golden-pass. You’ll only pay for your seat reservation here and not for the train ride itself, so that’s exactly what you need.
Mbeaulieu726Participant17 posts9 August 2021 at 12:05:21 #936105So when I go to make a seat reservation and submit my form all I get is a green spinner. Does not take me to another page. Very frustrating.
Heart_VoyageParticipant99 posts9 August 2021 at 12:06:00 #936106Hi Annika and Anna,
Should we reserve seats on Golden pass and Glacier Express in September? Is September considered high season?
Do the regular train and Golden pass take the same route between Lucerne – Interlaken? And I assume regular train is faster?
Would you please share a link for seat reservation for Golden pass between Interlaken – Montreux and Glacier Express between Brig – St. Moritz. The link you sent above for the leg between Montreux – Zweisimmen and I can’t find a way to change from Interlaken to Montreux.
Just in case we are late for the train which we have seat reservation, and we catch the next train, will we loose the train and need to rebook new seats?
Thank you so much.
Mbeaulieu726Participant17 posts9 August 2021 at 12:09:00 #936107Heart Voyage you don’t need a seat reservation on the Interlaken-Zweisimmen train.
ArnoModerator15484 posts9 August 2021 at 12:16:23 #936108Hi Mbeaulieu726,
I have seen that issue too in the past. What helped me was making sure you’re not logged into their website (upper right corner). Then click the button to purchase click the “log in” link in the window that pops up.
Did that help?
Heart_VoyageParticipant99 posts9 August 2021 at 12:22:52 #936109Hi Mbeaulieu726,
Thank you for the tip. I am wondering why we are suggested to have seat reservation only between Zweisimmen – Montreux. I have read this leg may be the best scenic leg on Golden Pass train.
Mbeaulieu726Participant17 posts9 August 2021 at 12:28:21 #936110Yes!! That fixed the problem. Thank you for that tip 🙂
AnnaModerator6390 posts9 August 2021 at 12:42:28 #936111Hi Heart Voyage,
Seat reservation on the Golden Pass is not obligatory. But it’s recommended to book your seats on the Zweisimmen-Montreux leg of the Golden Pass line because this section is popular with travellers. This page explains all three sections of the Golden Pass route in detail: http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass/gettingthere
Regular trains also travel on the same route and are good alternatives when the panoramic trains are not running. You can check the train timetable here: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable
Do take note that seat reservation on the Glacier Express is obligatory. You can make your online seat reservation here:http://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/tickets
Regards,
Anna
