Promotion must-knows

Apart from the free extra travel day(s), the promotional passes are identical to the regular 4- and 8-day Swiss Travel Passes. Refund policies are no different either: you can cancel for free until a few days before the first travel day. Do check the webshop you’re buying from.

The promotion only applies to 1st class 4-day and 8-day Swiss Travel Pass for adults and youths. So, this excludes:

  • 2nd class passes
  • Swiss Travel Pass Flex
  • all other passes and tickets

Is this promotion worth it?

Yes, if:

  • you’re planning to travel for 5 to 10 days in 1st class anyway.
  • you’re considering 1st class but weren’t sure. This makes it cheaper! With the 5-day pass you’ll save CHF 23 every day. With the 8-day pass, you’ll save CHF 17 each travel day.

No, if:

  • you’re happy with 2nd class travel.
  • you’re traveling for 1 to 4 days, or more than 10-12 days.

If you travel for 11 or 12 days, the 8+2 day promo pass might still be worth it. But note that a regular 15-day pass is only slightly more expensive, so that’s often the better option.

Swiss Travel Pass Promotion FAQ

  1. Is the promotion also available for 2nd class?

No, it’s only for 1st class.

  2. What if I don’t travel for exactly 5 or 10 days?

You don’t have to use all travel days. If you travel for more than 10 days, the 15-day Swiss Travel Pass is likely your best option.

  3. What’s included in the promotion pass?

You get all the free and discounted travel and museum access just like the normal Swiss Travel Pass. You’ll find all details here.

  4. Is 1st class worth it?

It is if you prefer more space and a quieter trip. But, 2nd class is fine as well, and often better if you travel with children. About the difference between 1st and 2nd class: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/train/classes/

  5. Can I get the free travel days on another pass?

No, this promotion only applies to 4- and 8-day 1st class Swiss Travel Passes.
