How to travel to the Brienzer Rothorn

You first need to travel to Brienz. There you will switch to the steam train.

The trip in detail

Brienz can be reached by car, by train (20 minutes from Interlaken, 90 minutes from Lucerne) or by boat from Interlaken. From the train station, you only need to cross the street to reach the steam train station. From the boat dock, it's about 2 minutes on foot to the steam train station.

You best sit on the left when departing from Brienz to get the majority of good views, although there are good views on the right as well.

See here for further details if you want to make the scenic round trip via Giswil and Sörenberg.

Dates of operation

The train operates from 6 June to 25 October 2020. The cable car operates from December 14 2019 to April 13 2020, and is expected to operate from June to October 2020. Please check again later for further dates.

Tip: check the timetable before you start your trip.
