1. If I want to send my luggage from Lucerne station to Zurich station on the 14th day of my swiss pass, so we can travel light and stop at zurich for a few hours to have a look around, how much time do you think we need to allot to retrieve our bags from the zurich station to carry on our train trip to Salzburg? Would we expect a long line to retrieve our baggage?
2. From Lucerne we will travel to Konstanz and have 3 nights in konstanz or 2 full days. Is it feasible to see the following sites in 2 days? St. Gallen, flower island and Unesco pile dwellings, Stein am Rhein or meersburg or lindau? If not what do you suggest we skip? And what would be our itinerary?

1. Sorry can’t help you there.

2. You can take a boat cruise from Konstanz to Stein am Rhein (covered by Swiss Travel Pass). You could then catch a train to Schaffhausen and on the the Rhine Falls and train back to Konstanz. Meersburg is nice. Lindau is a longer trip. St Gallen is definitely worth a look as is the Appenzell Region. Minau Island (your “flower island”) is close by but is just a big park but nice to wander around. They have a fantastic butterfly house. Ebenalp is possible as a day trip. Choices, choices. Always too much to see and so little time.

Hi 330epping,

If you are using the SBB station-to-station luggage delivery service, I would allocate at least 10 – 15 minutes to pick your luggage up from storage. The Zurich main station is quite busy and huge. If you are unfamiliar with the layout, you may need more than 15 minutes.

I think Mainau Island is worth a visit if you have the time. It’s a nice place to relax and have a picnic. It can be quite crowded though. You could easily combine it with a visit to Meersburg. A visit to the Rhine Falls is recommended if you are in the area, followed by sigthseeing in Stein am Rhein. You can check out for ideas from the links below:
