6 days Switzerland incl. Jungfraujoch with baby

Short summary – read this first

A family of four is visiting Switzerland from October 8 to 13 for their first trip. They seek advice on their itinerary, especially whether it's manageable with a 4-year-old and a 6-month-old, focusing on activities in the Jungfrau Region.

Key takeaways:

Both options for Day 4 are doable with young children, especially the Schilthorn trip, which involves mostly passive travel on cable cars. Consider the easier hike from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg if you are comfortable with carrying the infant and motivating the 4-year-old. Make sure to check the train timetable to plan your travels efficiently.

    We are a family of four with two parents and two children, one 4 y.o and one 6 months old.

    We will be in Switzerland from 8 to 13th Oct. And this is our first trip ever in Switzerland.

    Wondering if i can get your advice about our itinerary. It is a bit tricky with young children so keen to hear your experience if the itinerary is ambitious esp in the Jungfrau Region.

    Thanks so much.

    Day 1: Arrive in Zurich, staying overnight

    Day 2: Explore Zurich

    Day 3: Depart Zurich. Train to Wengen via Luzern.

    Muerren to Schilthorn via cable car

    => Is this doable with a 4 y.o and a 6 month old?

    Option 2: cable car from Wengen to Männlichen – hiking friom Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg

    Day 5: Wengen to Interlake for a boat trip of Lake Brienz

    Hi Misobeo

    Your itinerary looks fine to me. Either choice on day 4 will have great views providing the weather is good. The trip to Schilthorn is mostly passive on cable cars and train and easily doable with 4 yo and 6 month old. The trip from Mannlichen to KS requires a 1.5 hr easy hike on a good wide trail that’s slightly downhill. It has superior views in my opinion but will require carrying the infant and likely some coaxing of the 4 yo.
