Geneva airport shuttle and travelling to Geneva city from airport

We are arriving in Geneva mid day with a flight early the next morning. Is it possible to go in to Geneva from the airport (no car)? If so, best way to get there, how long and places to visit. We tend to like the old town vibe.
Also, we need to be at the airport for a 6:55 flight to Frankfurt. We are staying at the  airport Hilton. Their shuttle leaves at 4:20. Will that give us enough time (app. 2 hours). If not,  it appears to be a 15 minute walk from hotel to airport. Is that accurate, and would it be safe at 4:00 in the morning?
Thanks for any guidance; appreciate it!

    Hi Gary,

There is a train from Geneva Airport into central Geneva. It runs frequently and takes about 12 minutes.

You can find ideas for what to do, including a walk that takes in the old town, here:

Getting to the airport 2 hours before your flight to Frankfurt should be plenty, as your journey is wholly within the Schengen area. You won’t need to go through passport control and customs. It’s always a good idea to check with your airline about how early you need to be there though.

    Enjoy your stay in Geneva!

    Hi Gary,

In addition to Alpenrose’s reply.  Do use the Swiss timetable so you can plan and research your trip in to Geneva.  Here’s the link:

The Hilton at Geneva airport is quite close to the airport, you should reach the airport from the hotel itself in a few minutes with the shuttle bus.  By foot it’s around 800m.

Also, do check with the hotel when you arrive, quite often, they’ll issue you a Geneva card for free transportation into Geneva city.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
