Are there 1st & 2nd class Swiss Half Fare Cards?
Daifei888 is planning a trip and is confused about the Swiss Half Fare Card pricing and usage from HappyRail. They want to confirm if there's only one type of Swiss Half Fare Card and if buying one along with a Swiss Family Card is enough for free travel for their wife.
- There is only one type of Swiss Half Fare Card, and it is not class-specific; your class selection depends on your individual tickets or saver day pass.
- The Swiss Family Card is designed for families with children and won't cover adults; you'll need two Swiss Half Fare Cards for you and your wife.

Hi,
I am a bit confused by HappyRail. On their website, it shows 2 types of Swiss Half Fare Card (1st and 2nd class). Both are priced at CHF119.
If I understand correctly, there is only one type of Swiss Half Fare Card (not categorized into 1st or 2nd class) as in the end, it depends on the individual tickets / the saver day pass that you buy (either 1st class or 2nd class) to decide which class of train.
Therefore, I went to SBB website to double check. From what I saw on SBB website, it seems to me that my assumption was correct that there is only one type of Swiss Half Fare Card as SBB does not specify whether it is first class or second class. See link below:
shop.switzerlandtravel centre.com/#/en/produc t/swis sHalfFareCard
Can someone confirm if my understanding is correct? (that it depends on the individual tickets / the saver day pass to decide what class of train we can ride on)
* Just another question:
On SBB website, it also provide free Swiss Family Card along with the Swiss Half Fare Card. Can someone tell me what this Swiss Family Card is about? Is it meant for children only? I am travelling with my wife (2 person including me). If I buy 1 Swiss Half Fare Card + 1 free Swiss Family Card, is that sufficient? (Does this Swiss Family Card cover my wife for free travel?)
Thanks,
Daifei888
