    Hello community!

I am planning to travel from Munich to Wengen on 16th August and was looking at the options in SBB website. I see that the ticket price is being shown as CHF 40 per person and the connections are at Zurich, Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen. However, if I just choose Zurich as the end destination, the price remains the same.

Hence, I am suspecting that the Zurich to Lauterbrunnen leg is not being considered in the ticket price due to the travel date being almost 3 months from the current date. Could anyone please confirm if that’s the case? If I go ahead and book the ticket, will the ticket be booked till Zurich only?

Also, trying to understand if booking point to point ticket from Munich to Wengen will be more economical or whether I should go for p2p ticket till Zurich and buy a Saver day pass for rest of the journey.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello zealdeal,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Your research above, you appear to have found a “Super Sparpreis Europa”, which is allowing a very low tariff for a journey between a German and a Swiss town. The exact Swiss destination doesn’t seem to matter for the price you have found. More information can be found here: https://www.bahn.de/angebot/sparpreis-flexpreis/super-sparpreis-europa-schweiz

Validity is for the specific long-distance train(s) and the date that are displayed on the ticket. There seem to be no further restrictions for the rest of the journey by regional trains (which would be Zurich-Wengen), as long as the entire journey is completed by 10:00 am on the following day.

It’s best you check with the Deutsche Bahn for exact clarification.

Additonal information and options can be found here: https://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/germany and if you scroll to the last bullet point here: https://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
