Basel/Engelberg Snow”n”Rail offer 6 day ski pass
A couple is planning a 6-day skiing trip in Engelberg with their 15-year-old daughter and wants to take the train from Basel. They are unsure about purchasing a Junior Railcard for a better fare for their daughter and how to handle the ski pass and tickets, especially whether to sort it out online or at the station.
- Buy a Junior Railcard for CHF 30 for your daughter to get free travel on trains.
- Load your ski pass onto a Skicard for CHF 5 each, but purchasing tickets as paper vouchers is also an option.
- Check the SBB website for detailed information on buying reduced train tickets and ski passes.

Hi,
My husband and I are travelling with 15 year old daughter to ski in Engelberg for 6 days. We want to get a train from Basel to Engelberg. We have seen this combined offer online, which seems like a good deal, however, I am advised that to get the best rate for our daughter I must first buy a Junior Railcard for CHF 30- . Also there is a mention of loading the ski pass onto a Skicard which costs CHF5, each. I had been hoping to sort all this out online, but can’t see how to.
Does anyone know the best way to do this? Would it actually be better to wait until we are at Basel station and sort it out then? Many thanks.
