Help…. I will be arriving Zurich airport on May 27 heading to Grindelwald for 5 nights and then heading to Zermatt for 2 nights.  I have already bought the half fare card but can’t decide whether it would be more beneficial to buy the 6 day Berner Oberland Pass or the 4 day.  If I buy the 6 day is it really worth it as 2 of my days will be travel days with partial coverage.  Can someone help with this.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi Boyznme,

It’s not possible to say what will work out to be the cheapest option without doing calculations (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/tickets/compare/). If you don’t feel inclined to do that, just choose on the basis of convenience or guesstimate.

The biggest advantage of the Berner Oberland Pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/berner-oberland-pass/) is the unlimited free mountain transport, which can really save you a lot of money.

Travel days on normal public transport may or may not be worth it – you would have to calculate and compare. For a rough guesstimate, you could look at the average daily cost of the 4 and 6 day Berner Oberland Passes and the discount you get on each with the Swiss Half Fare Card (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/swiss-half-far-card/).

For travel days on which you are not using any mountain transport, especially when only part of your travel would be covered for that day, it might be more convenient to buy point to point tickets for the whole trip.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi there Boyznme1,

In addition to Alpenrose’s helpful reply.  I agree, you need to carry out some calculations based on your daily plans if it could be worth purchasing the 4 day vs 6 day Berner Oberland Pass.

Yes, for the days, you may not be not using mountain transport, other ticket options are Supersaver tickets or a Saver Day Pass, which would be discounted with your Swiss Half Fare Card.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
