    Hi,

My family will be spending about 10 days in Switzerland in August, splitting time between a hotel in Grindelwald and an Airbnb in Lenk. I am looking for tips for day time activities, day trips, etc. with a 3 year old and a 1 year old.

    Thank you!

    Hi BaoBao,

There are various activities you can do as a family in the Jungfrau region. With small children, I recommend a trip to Grindelwald First. There is an adventure playground at one of the middle stations where you can enjoy a picnic and watch your children play. Männlichen and Pfingstegg also have playgrounds and activities for small children. Day trip options from Grindelwald – I recommend a boat trip on Lake Brienz or enjoy the steam train to Brienzer Rothorn.

Lenk is a popular family destination. You can find various programs for children throughout the summer season. Checkout the website here: lenk-simmental.ch/en/our-simmental/good-to-know/family-destination/. From Lenk you can easily plan day trips to Adelboden and Kandersteg.

Are you planning to get the Berner Oberland Pass? This pass includes free travelling to many of the popular attractions in the region. Children under 6 years travel for free. You can view the Berner Oberland Pass validity map here: http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland/validity

Hope this gives you some ideas for your itinerary.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Hi BaoBao,

In Gridelwald I can recommend a trip to Grindelwald First and the hike to Bachalpsee (check beforehand whether the path is already snow-free). The spectacular glacier gorge in Grindelwald (when open) is also worth a trip.

In Lenk there is the beautiful Wallbacht Gorge and many waterfalls such as the Simmen Falls, Iffigbach Waterfall and Sibe Brünne Waterfall. At Lenkerseeli you can take a leisurely walk and there is a large children’s playground and a small restaurant.

    Have a great trip!

    Thanks Martin,

Bao Bao, to add, I am sure your children will also enjoy traveling on the trains and cable cars in the region too as well as all that is mentioned above.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
