Bernina Express from Lake Como to Chur

Short summary – read this first

Kelli's family wants to travel from Lake Como through the Swiss Alps on the Bernina Express, ending in Chur. They need to know if this journey is possible, as they have found limited information starting from Lake Como.

Key takeaways:
  • The Bernina Express only runs from Tirano to Chur, so you’ll need to take a bus from Lugano to Tirano to connect with the train.
  • Make sure to check the bus schedule, as it doesn't operate year-round.
  • Plan your trip carefully and consider the season to ensure both the train and bus are available.

Hi Kelli and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The Bernina Express train runs from Tirano to Chur only. There is a Bernina Express bus however that runs from Lugano to Tirano to meet up with the train but it doesn’t run year-round.
