Hi Sleyco,
Welcome to MySwissAlps.
The Bernina Express between Tirano and St Moritz runs a few times daily during high season up to 31 Oct. It’s possible to plan a return trip on the Bernina Expres on your own. You can have a look at the printed timetable from the Rhaetian Railway’s website (which operates the Bernina Express). You’ll find links at http://www.myswissalps.com/berninaexpress/gettingthere. Here’s the direct link for you: http://www.rhb.ch/en/panoramic-trains/bernina-express#info
There is a Bernina Express train that leaves Tirano at 10.07 and arrives in St. Moritz at 12.35. For the return trip on the same day you can take the train from St. Moritz at 16.14 and arrive back in Tirano at 18.39.
➤ No need to spend hours on research. We use our local expertise to plan your independent trip exactly as you want it. Professional and easy. See how it works

Hi Sleyco,
Without my looking at them, its possible that the timetables may be confusing because of the many possibilities of the Bernina Express. Meaning the following: the Bernina xpress runs the gamut from Tirano to Chur. That being said, there are options that one can also go to Davos, and one can also go to St. Moritz. This can be done from either Chur, or from Tirano. I went from Tirano (after the bus ride in from Lugano) directly to St Moritz, reserving a seat on the Bernina. That was a 1400 departure out of Tirano. Being as how there are a few options, you may just be better off taking the local trains to St Moritz, especially if you’re going back to Tirano on the same day. This way you’ll save some money on the seat reserves that are needed on the Bernina express. You may have to switch at Pontresina or Samedan, if there’s not a direct line. I’m sure the experts can guide you further on that, as I have had trouble myself with the timetables. Hope this may help in some way.

Hi again,
As Danielsan pointed out, it is also possible to take the regular trains between Tirano and St. Moritz. You can look for all possible train connections on the SBB timetable. If you wish to travel specifically on the panoramic train i.e Bernina Express, in the timetable, select the advance search tab and under the transport type, unclick all except IR/PE. That will give you only connections on the Bernina Express.

It is important to understand the difference between the Bernina Express and the Bernina Railway.
The Bernina Express is one type of train running every so often on a regular local (albiet famous) railway which has all the normal trains on it as well.
You can take any train throughout the day
