Best driving route Täsch to Bellagio Italy in July

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a drive from Zermatt (Tasch) to Bellagio this July and is looking for the best scenic route. They are experienced mountain drivers and want to enjoy the views along the way. The focus is on finding a long yet beautiful drive, so starting early is essential.

Key takeaways:
  • Take the route: Täsch – Visp – Brig – Gletsch – Furka Pass – Andermatt – Gotthard Pass – Airolo – Bellinzona – Lugano – Porlezza – Menaggio – Bellagio, ending with a ferry ride.
  • Expect the drive to take about 6.5 to 7 hours; start early to make time for scenic stops along the way.
  • If you're short on time, consider a direct route to Airolo using the Nufenen Pass, but it’s not as scenic.

You will need to leave early as the scenic drive will be the long drive.

I would recommend Täsch – Visp – Brig – Gletsch – Furka Pass – Andermatt – Gotthard Pass – Airolo – motorway – Bellinzona – Lugano – Porlezza – Menaggio – Bellagio (last bit by ferry)

Thanks so much… Do you have an estimate of how long in terms of hours using this route will take?

Probably about 6.5 – 7 hours but that is only the driving time. As I have already said – start early or you won’t have time to stop along the way and the ‘scenic route’ will be wasted.

However, you do have an alternative. If you get to Ulrichen and feel that time is getting on you can go direct to Airolo over the Nufenen Pass . Although, again, being close but missing the Furka pass would be a waste.
