we are flying into Zurich spending a few days there and then heading up to Andermatt for some skiing. We were initially planning on going south to Italy and flying from Milan to Paris but realized thats alot of out of way travel for not much time. Now looking at staying within Switzerland and going from Andermatt to another Swiss town for day/night and catching one of high speed trains to Paris next day. My question is what city would yall recommend is best with teenagers for a day of exploring. Geneva, Basal or Bern? Also would the 4 day flexible pass be best for us. We would be using it from airport and to explore Zurich for 2 days, end of day 2 going up to Andermatt, not using it while we are up there for 3 days and then using to get to wherever we stay before heading to paris. I have read thats not the best pass but seems toe make the most senses for 4 days not consecutive for us?

    Hi Erin T,

I would probably choose Geneva for practical reasons. From Andermatt you can take a direct train to Brig, which has regular services to Geneva. So you’ll only need to change trains twice at the most.

Geneva is a big city by Swiss standard and would appeal to most teenagers I think. Brig is also a nice little town for a quick pit stop if you have time.

Regarding railpass, based on your plans I agree that a Swiss Travel Pass Flex is a sensible option: https://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpassflex. You can find more useful tips on how to choose the best railpass here:http://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass

    Hope this helps.

    Regards.

I would also choose Geneva – as you will feel more at home if – as I suspect – your native language is English.

For a short stay Geneva has plenty of ‘classic’ views
