Boarding Lake Zurich boat with Swiss Travel Pass

Short summary – read this first

Rhendric just arrived in Zurich after six wonderful days in Lucerne and is looking for advice for the last two days of their trip. They want to take a final lake cruise before heading home and need to know about options covered by the Swiss Travel Pass.

Key takeaways:
  • All public boat trips on Lake Zurich are covered by the Swiss Travel Pass; no ticket is needed unless you are taking a special cruise.
  • The main boat pier for Lake Zurich excursions is at Burkliplatz, accessible by tram from Zurich HB.
  • Consider taking the long cruise to Rapperswil or a Limmat River cruise for great views of Zurich's landmarks.

Just arrived in Zurich after 6 amazing days in Lucerne. So grateful for the tips from this board!

We have two days in Zurich and then home (so sad!)

Wife would love to take a final lake cruise, and we have one last day with the STP tomorrow (Saturday). Any tips on where to pick this up, what is covered by the pass?

    Hi Rhendric,

In general, all public boat trips are covered by the Swiss Travel Pass including those on Lake Zurich. You simply walk on. There is no need to buy a ticket or make prior reservation unless you are taking a special cruise. If you have time. I recommend taking the long trip cruise from Zurich to Rapperswil. Or you can combine the boat trip with a visit to the Lindt Chocolate Shop in Kussnacht. The main boat pier is located at Burkliplatz. You can take a tram there from Zurich HB.

Alternatively, you can enjoy a Limmat River cruise that takes you to all the top landmarks in Zurich. The boat pier for this is located at the Landesmuseum, just next to Zurich HB.

Limmat boats are not operating on 27 AUG due to a swimming event.

    Hi Trainliner,

Thanks for the heads up. Yes, apparently the Limmat Swim takes place in Zurich today, kicking off at 12 noon.

Boat trips from Burkliplatz operate as usual.

    Regards,

    Anna
