    Hi there!

We will be travelling to Switzerland in September of this year. Was wondering about the First Cable Car.

We are planning to buy the return ticket at Grindelwald. Is it possible to hop on and off the cable car at the stops in between?

    Many thanks!! Appreciate your help!!

I believe the cable car Grindelwald BGF to First is a non-stop 25-minute ride.

    Thanks rockoyster!

Would I be able to get from First to Schreckfeld by cable car? We are planning to go on the First Flyer but some in our group may not join this activity so I was thinking we could meet up again at Schreckfeld afterwards.

My mistake I misunderstood what you were after. I guess you can get off at Schreckfeld. Hopefully someone else will chip in to confirm.

    Hi Hansy,

Are you looking at the Bergrestaurant Schrekfeld? You can access by gondola or a nice easy walk from First as well: https://www.jungfrau.c h/en-gb/summer-sport/hiking/hiking-trail/8-first-schreckfeld-b06042/

It is possible to get off and on at both Bort and Schreckfeld or stay on board to First. Same thing in reverse for coming down!

I haven’t been there myself to try it but as there are stations there I would say you can get off or on yes. However, a member who has done that trip may correct me. I’d hate to swing by a berg restaurant and be locked in the gondola as I float by! It seems from my searching online that walking around the area is quite a gentle experience too.

    Hi Lucas,

See my post from earlier this afternoon.

I was there only a few weeks ago and I’ve been there in the summer too. Yes, there are intermediate stations at Bort and at Schreckfeld. The cabins come off the main cables, keep moving slowly as they pass through the stations with the doors open for people to get on or off as they wish before the doors close and the cabin is launched onto the next cable.

Don’t be put off by ambiguous signs which seem to tell you to stay on. That’s just to stop people getting off when what they really want is to go all the way to First.

Both Bort and Schreckfeld have restaurants very nearby and there’s a big one at First. I can confirm that there is good walking in the summertime as well as skiing in the winter.

Oh ha! Sorry. I read your post to quickly and went cross-eyed apparently!

I read “Is it” Not “it is”. Ooops! But thanks for the extra details 🙂
