I am planning on purchasing the Half Fare Card, which means we will still need to purchase all individual tickets at each train or bus station. Can I use an international visa as payment in most locations?

Yes, zero problem normally. The only exception is that on occasion a ticket machine might not be working properly and reject payment by a Visa card. It is therefore worth having some cash in hand. However if you are only using larger stations there should be alternatives to a single machine.

Hello Conway linda and Welcome to MySwissAlps

The other option to buying tickets at stations if you are travelling with a Swiss Half-Fare Card is to buy your tickets using the SBB Mobile app (bit.ly/2ICIUHi). It is also great for checking timetables.
